Description
Car History
The 348 TB was presented in 1989, and it was a big step forward in performance and engineering compared to its predecessors. It was also one of the last models of the “Enzo” era, being approved for production just before the legendary Ferrari boss died. Powered by a 3.4-liter V8 engine, it delivered a healthy 300 hp, which provided exhilarating performance. This particular car was delivered new in Switzerland in 1991 and acquired by the current owner in 2023. However, what makes this Ferrari 348 TB so interesting is that it has been fitted with a Challenge kit. In the early ‘90s, Ferrari started its famous 348 Challenge racing series for owners who wanted to race their cars. In order to participate, you either bought a 348 Challenge from the factory (about 50 examples made) or ordered a Challenge kit from your Ferrari dealer. The Challenge spec included an upgraded engine to 320 hp, better brakes, seats, a smaller battery, a roll cage, and slick tires. A Ferrari dealer converted this particular example in late 1995 but never raced because the Ferrari Challenge series switched to the Ferrari 355 model for the 1996 season. The process was fully documented with bills and receipts, which makes this yellow 348 one of about 150 cars converted by dealers worldwide and probably the only one without racing history!
Interior
Since this Ferrari was meticulously kept, the black leather interior is in very good shape with minimal traces of use. The previous owner removed the roll cage and put back the original seats, making it much easier to get in and out. The dash has no cracks, and all the instruments and buttons work. There are no modifications, except for the CD player, which fits perfectly in the ‘90s feel of this car.
Condition
With just 55,721 kilometers from the new, this Ferrari 348 TB Challenge is in immaculate condition and carefully looked after by all its users. The vehicle was obviously scarcely used and well-maintained, as the records show. The maintenance history file provided with this car is unbelievable, with the original bill of sale and owners from the 90s. The latest service was performed in August of 2023, with the brakes being overhauled just a few days ago in November of 2023. According to the seller, next maintenance should be distributor belt which can be performed by their mechanics at additional cost of 3000 euros. There are no leaks; underneath, the car is as clean as the interior. The car is ready to be driven anywhere and is probably one of the finest examples of driver-quality Ferrari 348 TB Challenge you will encounter.
Exterior And Wheels
The Giallo Yellow paint is in perfect condition with no scratches and dings. The paint thickness tool shows consistency in the color, which means there were no damage repairs and body filler. The only damage visible on the car’s body is the weatherstripping around the driver’s doors, which shows signs of wear, which is to be expected considering the car’s age. The period-correct 17-inch OZ alloy wheels are specific Challenge items and look good. The Michelin Pilot Sport is older but not worn out.
Documentation
This vehicle is sold by the dealer with appropriate documentation, and it is located in Spain. The CarFax report is clean; no proof of accidents, accident repairs, ownership, or legal problems exist. There are records of regular maintenance along with original factory brochures, bills of sale, receipts and the technical inspection approval is valid until August 2024. The amount of documentation is simply astonishing, and it is rare to see a car with so much paperwork proving that it has been well looked after.
