Description
Exterior
On the outside, this grey-colored Touring model shares most of the design details with the 911 RS3 on which it’s based. This includes Xenon-headlights with LED halos, large air intakes at the front, and widened body panels and bumpers. But where these two cars differ is the massive wing at the back, or the apparent absence of it, on the Touring. Instead, this model has a retractable rear spoiler, which deploys at 75 MPH to provide additional downforce. However, the spoiler is retracted and flush with the car’s silhouette at low speeds, giving it a sleek and streamlined look. This Porsche has factory 19-inch wheels and Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 tires, which suit it ideally.
Interior
On the inside, this Porsche has a pair of lightweight bucket seats dressed in black leather with dark-grey fabric inserts. Yellow seatbelts are a nice touch that gives the interior a more vivid appearance. Unlike in the ordinary 911, there are no seats at the back. Once inside, the driver will find a tri-spoked leather steering wheel and Porsche’s signature-mark instrument cluster behind it. This includes a center-mounted rev counter that goes up to 10,000 RPM, a speedometer, and several more gauges. The console in the middle is dominated by a large touchscreen with integrated stereo, backup camera display, and navigation. Lastly, like most other GT3 models, this Porsche has a stopwatch at the top of the dashboard, which is helpful when doing timed laps.
Mechanics
Despite being what seems like a leisurely model, this Touring is still a part of the prestigious GT3 range. This means it has the same 4.0-liter, naturally-aspired flat-six engine that develops 500 horsepower and 469 Nm of torque. But unlike most of the GT3 range, which uses dual-clutch automatic transmissions, this car has a more traditional, six-speed manual. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential, which improves traction, especially in slippery conditions. With all that, this Porsche accelerates from 0 to 60 in just 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 196 MPH. And when it needs to stop, the enormous brakes will ensure it’s done in the shortest possible distance.
Vehicle’s history
This particular 911 GT3 Touring was tailor-made by Porsche for one of their VIP clients, who ordered it as a part of a broader collection. Despite being in the United Kingdom, this is a left-hand-drive model with Luxemburg license plates. It had its last service just a few months ago, in February, and is now completely ready to hit the road.
