Description
Car History
The sixth generation of the iconic Porsche 911 was premiered in 2004 and internally known as the 997. Its predecessor, the 996, remains one of the most controversial 911 models ever produced, most noticeably for its design and the introduction of the water-cooled engines. However, the 997 was universally praised for its clean lines and improvements in technology and power. Even though the 997 has some mechanical similarities as well as the same platform as the 996, it was a far better and more competent car, not to forget more modern and beautiful. It is no surprise that sales figures proved that the 997 was a sales success, with over 212,000 examples made in 9 years. However, this particular example is pretty rare, not only because it is an earlier 997.1 model but also because of its rare Targa body style. In 2008, only 1426 Targa 4S examples were delivered, and very few had a 6-speed manual transmission. In total, only about 8,400 Targa 4S were produced for 997 generation. The 3.8-liter, naturally-aspirated flat-six delivered 350 hp to all four wheels, resulting in impressive acceleration and stellar road-holding in any conditions. Combining the strong performance with the glass roof’s airy feel and the manual transmission’s mechanical sensation makes this example incredibly interesting for any true collector.
Interior
Finished in black leather with rare and optional leather dashboard, the 2008 Porsche Targa 4S interior is in perfect condition with no damage and few signs of wear. This example has a lot of desirable optional equipment like cruise control, premium audio system, electrically-operated and heated leather sports seats, multifunctional steering wheel, navigation system, and so on. Everything works as it should, along with the glass roof, and there are no modifications. Compared to other 911s of the period, the Targa is quite unique since it offers the open-air feel of a convertible but with the comfort of a coupe and all-year usability.
Car Condition
With just over 110,000 kilometers from new and two careful owners, this Porsche 911 Targa 4S is in impressive condition and being carefully maintained. The records show that the last major service was performed in late 2022, with the brakes being overhauled just a few days ago, in March 2024. All maintenance records are available, showing just how meticulously the car was cared for. This particular car was delivered in Belgium.
Exterior And Wheels
This particular example was professionally repainted in its original dark gray color, which looks perfect and suits the original wheels and black interior. As mentioned in the CarVertical, the only detail worth mentioning is a slight damage on the rear bumper, which was repaired as you can see on the pictures. The Bridgestone tires, which are of correct specifications, date from 2018 and are only slightly worn.
