Description
Exterior
From the outside, this black-colored 2-door coupe balances a seemingly subtle appearance with aggressive details, hinting at its true character. The front end features a large grille and triangular-shaped headlights, giving it a formidable road presence. GT-R’s silhouette is defined by its long hood, sloping roofline, and massive rear spoiler. Lastly, the back end is dominated by Nissan’s signature-mark round tail lights. Being built by Nismo, this particular GT-R differs from standard models in several details. Apart from the grille-mounted badge, this includes an enlarged front air splitter and a carbon-fiber trunk lid. The car sits on Michelin’s grippy Super Sport Cup 2 tires fitted on bronze 20-inch wheels made by Volk Racking.
Interior
The GT-R’s interior, featuring a 2+2 seating layout, reveals its practicality. Clearly, the back seats offer only limited amounts of space and are only suitable for short distances. But, even as such, it’s nice to have them. The front seats, on the other hand, are a different story. Dressed in black leather with red accents, they offer virtually unlimited support, keeping the driver firmly in place even through the sharpest bends. And these are negotiated with a tri-spoked steering wheel covered in brushed leather with red stitchings. Behind it is the instrument cluster dominated by a rev counter that goes up to 8,000 RPM. Other dials include the speedometer and the gauges with the engine temperature and fuel level. There’s also a center-mounted display, which shows race-like parameters, such as acceleration or lateral forces.
Mechanics
Stunningly looking as it may be, the Nissan GT-R is actually most fascinating because of the mechanical underpinnings underneath the skin. First is the engine, a 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 hand-built with the highest imaginable precision by Nissan’s best technicians. Moreover, every one of them is tuned to its maximum, which results in different power outputs between each car. And with 750 horsepower on the tap, power is something this particular GT-R has plenty off. Then, there’s a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which is, to improve weight distribution, mounted at the back. It also is hand-built and paired with the engine to make gear shifts as quick as possible. Lastly, all that immense power is efficiently transferred to the ground through an elaborate all-wheel-drive system. With all that, this Nissan GT-R accelerates from 0 to 60 in just 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 205 MPH.
Vehicle’s history
While every Nissan GT-R, with its hand-built mechanics and tailored tune, is unique in its own way, this particular model is even more special. This, in fact, was the first left-hand-drive model built by Nismo, Nissan’s in-house racing division, made personally for the chairman of Renault’s Formula 1 team at the time. According to the seller, this car is as new, has done 2,703 miles, and is currently located in the United Kingdom.
