Men i st\u00e4ndigt f\u00f6r\u00e4nderliga marknadssituationer har biltillverkarna ibland inte r\u00e4tt bil f\u00f6r tillf\u00e4llet. Och n\u00e4r detta sker introduceras snabbt en ny modell f\u00f6r att fylla luckan.<\/p>\n<p>Ett exempel \u00e4r n\u00e4r BMW tog fram en prisv\u00e4rd och s\u00e4ljande Isseta, vilket hj\u00e4lpte f\u00f6retaget att \u00f6vervinna sina ekonomiska sv\u00e5righeter. Sm\u00e5skaliga tillverkare har dock inte den lyxen och m\u00e5ste ofta leta efter specifika bilnischer som de stora akt\u00f6rerna inte har utforskat. Och f\u00f6r att g\u00f6ra det m\u00e5ste ledningen vara kreativ, uppfinningsrik och, viktigast av allt, t\u00e4nka utanf\u00f6r boxen. Och om man g\u00f6r r\u00e4tt kan detta laterala t\u00e4nkande ge upphov till spektakul\u00e4ra bilar, och det g\u00f6r det ibland ocks\u00e5.<\/p>\n<p>En historia som tydligt illustrerar detta \u00e4gde rum i slutet av 50-talet. Vid den h\u00e4r tiden hade Maserati sv\u00e5rt att s\u00e4lja sina bilar. I ett f\u00f6rs\u00f6k att v\u00e4nda denna desperata situation gjorde \u00e4garens son Omar Orsi broschyrer som visade upp deras flaggskeppsbilar &#8211; en 3500 grand tourer och en 450S. Dessa skickades sedan till ett urval av rika personer i hopp om att f\u00e5 deras uppm\u00e4rksamhet. Denna direkta och dj\u00e4rva strategi gav till slut utdelning och lockade flera v\u00e4lrenommerade bilentusiaster.<\/p>\n<p>En av dem var Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, mer k\u00e4nd som Irans shah, som s\u00e5 sm\u00e5ningom kom till Italien f\u00f6r att provk\u00f6ra Maseratis bilar. Han var imponerad av 3500:ans k\u00f6rning och hantering, men gillade ocks\u00e5 prestandan hos 450S-racern. I slutet av dagen kom shahen p\u00e5 en id\u00e9 &#8211; varf\u00f6r inte kombinera dessa tv\u00e5 bilar till en skr\u00e4ddarsydd modell som var exklusivt utformad f\u00f6r honom sj\u00e4lv. Att f\u00f6rverkliga detta skulle dock inte vara l\u00e4tt och inte heller billigt. Men som tur var f\u00f6r Maserati erbj\u00f6d Irans regent att t\u00e4cka alla kostnader som var n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndiga f\u00f6r att utveckla och bygga dr\u00f6mbilen. Slutresultatet blev en av de mest prestigefyllda och exklusiva modellerna fr\u00e5n den italienska tillverkaren &#8211; 5000 GT.  <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Hur ser Maserati 5000 GT ut?<\/h2>\n<p>Den nya Maserati 5000 GT baserades som v\u00e4ntat p\u00e5 3500-modellen, med vilken den delade den grundl\u00e4ggande layouten och mycket av strukturen. Detta innebar att de tv\u00e5 bilarna skulle ha m\u00e5nga likheter, bland annat i form, l\u00e4ngd och sittplatser. \u00c4nd\u00e5 fanns det m\u00e5nga skillnader mellan dem, s\u00e4rskilt p\u00e5 utsidan. Delvis gjordes detta av n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndighet p\u00e5 grund av det extra utrymme som beh\u00f6vdes f\u00f6r den st\u00f6rre motorn och den tillh\u00f6rande h\u00e5rdvaran. M\u00e4rkligt nog byggdes karosserierna till dessa bilar av olika tillverkare. Detta arbete utf\u00f6rdes faktiskt av de \u00e5tta mest prestigefyllda och k\u00e4nda italienska karossbyggarna vid den tiden. Och var och en av dem hade lagt till olika unika detaljer till de bilar de byggt, vilket gav dem en unik, skr\u00e4ddarsydd k\u00e4nsla. De flesta 5000 GT, totalt 22 stycken, tillverkades av Carrozzeria Allemano, som ocks\u00e5 tillverkade den f\u00f6rsta bilen f\u00f6r shahen av Iran. Andra karosstillverkare som gjorde sina f\u00f6rs\u00f6k var Carrozzeria Monterosa, Ghia och Pietro Frua, som var och en bara tillverkade tv\u00e5 eller tre bilar. K\u00e4nda namn som Pininfarina och Bertone gjorde ocks\u00e5 f\u00f6rs\u00f6k med enstaka modeller.  <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Maserati 5000 GT:s Superleggera-konstruktion<\/h2>\n<p>En s\u00e5dan m\u00e5ngfald av designformer p\u00e5 en bil med begr\u00e4nsad produktion var m\u00f6jlig tack vare det unika s\u00e4ttet att tillverka karossen. Ist\u00e4llet f\u00f6r att st\u00e4mplas i form av pl\u00e5t hade karosseripanelerna en konstruktion av tunna r\u00f6r. Detta fungerade som ett skelett som sedan t\u00e4cktes av ett material som kallades Duralumin. Den erbj\u00f6d flera viktiga f\u00f6rdelar j\u00e4mf\u00f6rt med en traditionell karosseri p\u00e5 ramkonfiguration, som var standard p\u00e5 den tiden. Eftersom den till st\u00f6rsta delen var handgjord var den idealisk f\u00f6r till\u00e4mpningar i l\u00e5gvolymproduktion. Dessutom var det l\u00e4tt att modifiera karosseripaneler som tillverkades p\u00e5 detta s\u00e4tt, vilket gjorde det m\u00f6jligt att snabbt \u00e4ndra designen. Men viktigast av allt var att den h\u00e4r tekniken f\u00f6r att bygga vagnar garanterade l\u00e4tthet, vilket var viktigt f\u00f6r en sportbil. Det \u00e4r d\u00e4rf\u00f6r ingen \u00f6verraskning att m\u00e5nga k\u00e4nda modeller, inklusive Ferraris, Lamborghinis och Astons, hade en mycket likartad konstruktion.<\/p>\n<p>Men trots alla f\u00f6rdelar var Superleggera-karossen inte tillr\u00e4ckligt stark f\u00f6r att st\u00f6dja drivlinans komponenter eller fj\u00e4dringen. Detta innebar att det beh\u00f6vdes ett separat chassi f\u00f6r detta \u00e4ndam\u00e5l. Eftersom den \u00e4r tillverkad av l\u00e4ttviktsr\u00f6r var den h\u00e4r konstruktionen \u00e4nd\u00e5 betydligt l\u00e4ttare \u00e4n konventionella ramar.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Vad finns under huden p\u00e5 Maserati 5000 GT?<\/h2>\n<p>Till skillnad fr\u00e5n 3500:an som den var baserad p\u00e5 hade Maserati 5000 GT en stor V8 under huven. P\u00e5 Shahs beg\u00e4ran togs motorn direkt fr\u00e5n 450S-racebilen. \u00c4nd\u00e5 gjordes vissa \u00e4ndringar f\u00f6r att g\u00f6ra den mer l\u00e4mplig f\u00f6r en Grand Tourer. Detta innebar bland annat st\u00f6rre kolvar, 45 DCOE Weber-f\u00f6rgasare och en t\u00e4ndning med dubbla t\u00e4ndstift. Med allt detta producerade motorn hela 325 h\u00e4stkrafter, vilket r\u00e4ckte f\u00f6r en topphastighet p\u00e5 160 miles i timmen. N\u00e5gra \u00e5r senare ersattes de gammaldags f\u00f6rgasarna med mekanisk insprutning och v\u00e4xell\u00e5dan uppgraderades till en 5-v\u00e4xlad manuell v\u00e4xell\u00e5da. Detta f\u00f6rhindrade o\u00f6nskad kroppsflexion, som kunde ha uppst\u00e5tt p\u00e5 grund av all extra kraft och stress.  <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Att k\u00f6pa en Maserati 5000 GT &#8211; d\u00e5 och hur?<\/h2>\n<p>Eftersom Maserati 5000 GT var en mycket exklusiv, specialtillverkad bil, s\u00e5ldes den i ett begr\u00e4nsat antal exemplar.<\/p>\n<p>Totalt tillverkades 34 Grand Tourers under den sju\u00e5riga produktionstiden.
