Under de tre decennierna tillverkades den i fyra olika generationer, och var och en av dem har sin charm. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r \u00e4r det n\u00e4stan om\u00f6jligt att peka ut n\u00e5gon av dem som den mest betydelsefulla. I den h\u00e4r artikeln kommer vi att ta upp alla Triumph Spitfire-generationer och se hur de har p\u00e5verkat bilv\u00e4rlden. Dessutom kommer vi att ta reda p\u00e5 vilken av dessa roadsters som \u00e4r mest eftertraktad av bilentusiaster och samlare idag.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Hur Triumph Spitfire fick sitt namn<\/h2><p>Innan vi g\u00e5r in p\u00e5 de tekniska specifikationerna och andra detaljer ska vi f\u00f6rst utforska ursprunget till Spitfire-namnet. I<strong>sj\u00e4lva verket har denna ikoniska bil sitt namnskylt fr\u00e5n en annan legend som bidrog till att omforma v\u00e4rlden 1940<\/strong>. Detta var \u00e5ret d\u00e5 tyskarna, som just hade er\u00f6vrat hela Europa, riktade sin uppm\u00e4rksamhet mot Storbritannien. Deras plan var att f\u00e5 denna sista kvarleva av frihet att avsluta kriget genom att intensivt bomba deras st\u00e4der och byar. Till en b\u00f6rjan s\u00e5g det ut som om Luftwaffe skulle lyckas med sina f\u00f6rs\u00f6k, eftersom de hade total \u00f6verl\u00e4gsenhet i luften. Detta g\u00e4llde \u00e5tminstone tills RIF hade rett ut sin strategi och b\u00f6rjat avv\u00e4rja inkr\u00e4ktarna.<\/p><p>Under dessa strider i luften var det framf\u00f6r allt ett flygplan som visade sig vara mycket framg\u00e5ngsrikt och som stack ut fr\u00e5n de andra &#8211; Supermarine Spitfire. <strong>Detta nykonstruerade stridsflygplan kunde l\u00e4tt \u00f6verlista Messerschmitts och andra tyska rivaler, vilket f\u00f6ljaktligen hj\u00e4lpte britterna att v\u00e4nda kriget till sin f\u00f6rdel<\/strong>. Spitfires, hur kapabla de \u00e4n var, vann inte p\u00e5 egen hand slaget om Storbritannien, eftersom andra flygplan hade sin del i denna enorma framg\u00e5ng. Men i nationens \u00f6gon var det den magnifika Spitfire som f\u00f6r\u00e4ndrade spelet och till slut r\u00e4ddade Storbritannien. P\u00e5 grund av detta fick den ett rykte som n\u00e4stan en nationalhj\u00e4lte, vars framg\u00e5ngar har idoliserats sedan dess. Det var helt naturligt att allt som d\u00e4refter skulle b\u00e4ra Spitfire-namnet skulle ha en enorm tyngd p\u00e5 sina axlar. I b\u00f6rjan av 60-talet var Triumph \u00f6vertygade om att de hade en bil som klarade utmaningen. H\u00e4r \u00e4r historien om den legendariska Triumph Spitfire.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Spitfires n\u00e4stan olycksdrabbade prototyp<\/h2><p>Ett annat intressant faktum om Spitfire, bilen, \u00e4r att den n\u00e4stan inte blev tillverkad. Arbetet med prototypen b\u00f6rjade faktiskt i slutet av 50-talet, n\u00e4r Triumph var en frist\u00e5ende biltillverkare. Den nya roadstern skulle baseras p\u00e5 den framg\u00e5ngsrika Herald-bilen, vars chassi och mekanik den skulle anv\u00e4nda.  <strong>Den st\u00f6rsta skillnaden mellan de tv\u00e5 \u00e4r karossen, d\u00e4r den kommande roadstern \u00e4r designad av den italienske designern Giovanni Michelotti.<\/strong>  Men produktionen fick skjutas upp p\u00e5 grund av Triumphs ekonomiska sv\u00e5righeter i b\u00f6rjan av 60-talet. Detta ledde till att f\u00f6retaget k\u00f6ptes upp av det mycket st\u00f6rre Leyland. De nya \u00e4garna, som uppt\u00e4ckte den n\u00e4stan \u00f6vergivna prototypen, var f\u00f6rtjusta i dess utseende och skyndade sig att s\u00e4tta den i produktion.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Den f\u00f6rsta generationen Triumph Spitfire<\/h2><p>N\u00e4r Spitfire b\u00f6rjade tillverkas 1962 var den n\u00e4stan identisk med den flera \u00e5r \u00e4ldre prototypen. De enda anm\u00e4rkningsv\u00e4rda skillnaderna var en omdesignad bakre st\u00f6tf\u00e5ngare, som nu var uppdelad i tv\u00e5 segment, och en annorlunda grill. I \u00f6vrigt var bilen precis vad den ursprungligen var t\u00e4nkt att vara &#8211; en liten bil med \u00f6ppet tak, tv\u00e5 s\u00e4ten och ett i\u00f6gonfallande utseende. <strong>Liksom sina konkurrenter dominerades Triumphs karosslinjer av en l\u00e5ng huva och ett kort, lutande baklucka<\/strong>. Men till skillnad fr\u00e5n de flesta av dem erbj\u00f6d den ett l\u00e4tt hopf\u00e4llbart presenningstak eller en hardtop som tillval. Detta innebar att den hade en avancerad framhjulsupph\u00e4ngning och ett responsivt styrsystem med kuggst\u00e5ng och kugghjul, bland andra avancerade funktioner.<strong> Men dess k\u00e4nnetecken var baksidan, d\u00e4r bakre sv\u00e4ngaxlar anv\u00e4ndes i st\u00e4llet f\u00f6r en traditionell konfiguration med levande axlar<\/strong>. Den h\u00e4r inst\u00e4llningen blev \u00f6k\u00e4nd f\u00f6r sin anv\u00e4ndning i Chevrolet Corvair, som kunde \u00f6verstyra kraftigt eller till och med v\u00e4lta. Men denna tendens var inte lika framtr\u00e4dande i en liten och l\u00e4tt bil som Spitfire. I verkligheten kan en skicklig f\u00f6rare kontrollera \u00f6verstyrningen n\u00e4r den intr\u00e4ffar och h\u00e5lla bilen p\u00e5 kant, vilket g\u00f6r k\u00f6rupplevelsen \u00e4nnu mer sp\u00e4nnande. Motorn var en liten 1,2-liters fyrcylindrig enhet med st\u00f6tst\u00e5ngsr\u00f6r och 63 h\u00e4stkrafter. Det kanske inte verkar s\u00e5 mycket, men Spitfire var extremt l\u00e4tt och v\u00e4gde bara 1 500 pund. Med detta och en v\u00e4lbalanserad v\u00e4xell\u00e5da kunde den h\u00e4r roadstern erbjuda konkurrenskraftiga prestanda.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Triumph Spitfire andra generationen<\/h2><p>Eftersom den f\u00f6rsta Triumph var en succ\u00e9 bland k\u00f6parna och s\u00e5ldes i stora m\u00e4ngder beslutade Triumph att inte \u00e4ndra mycket p\u00e5 den n\u00e4r man arbetade p\u00e5 efterf\u00f6ljaren. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r var den nya bilen, som introducerades 1965, lik den som den ersatte, med bara n\u00e5gra f\u00e5 kosmetiska uppdateringar.  <strong>Detta innebar bland annat en annorlunda grill och lyxigare kl\u00e4dsel. Men den h\u00e4r g\u00e5ngen hade den nya bilen en m\u00e4rkbar omdesign och flera uppdaterade funktioner. <strong>Medan den \u00f6vergripande formen f\u00f6rblev densamma, hade den nya bilen mer aggressiva karosslinjer<\/strong>. Detta innebar bland annat mycket st\u00f6rre hjulhus och en reviderad framdel. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r anv\u00e4ndes en uppdaterad 1,3-litersmotor som utvecklade 75 h\u00e4stkrafter. Med en <strong>0-60-tid p\u00e5 under 13 sekunder och en topphastighet p\u00e5 n\u00e4stan 100 mph var den nya Spitfire mer \u00e4n konkurrenskraftig mot sina rivaler<\/strong>. \u00c4nd\u00e5 var modellerna f\u00f6r den amerikanska marknaden 1969 n\u00e5got avst\u00e4mda f\u00f6r att uppfylla de kommande reglerna f\u00f6r utsl\u00e4ppskontroll.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Triumph Spitfire&#8217;s fj\u00e4rde version<\/h2><p>Den fj\u00e4rde generationen Spitfire, som kom ut p\u00e5 marknaden 1970, hade n\u00e4stan samma framsida som sin f\u00f6reg\u00e5ngare, eftersom designern fokuserade p\u00e5 bakdelen. H\u00e4r anv\u00e4ndes en mer fyrkantig karossform inspirerad av den nya och mycket framg\u00e5ngsrika Stag. P\u00e5 insidan har instrumentgruppen flyttats fr\u00e5n sin traditionella centrala position till framf\u00f6r f\u00f6raren.  <strong>Dessutom fanns en omdesignad hardtop, som var mer robust, tillg\u00e4nglig.<\/strong><\/p><p>De flesta mekanikerna var ganska lika som i den utg\u00e5ende modellen. Den nya Spitfire blev n\u00e5got tyngre genom att den fick olika s\u00e4kerhetsfunktioner, vilket p\u00e5verkade prestandan.
