Och f\u00f6r 50-talet \u00e4r det Rock&#8217;n&#8217;Roll och naturligtvis Chevrolet Bell Air. Denna ikoniska bil hade flera mycket igenk\u00e4nnbara versioner, vars popularitet f\u00f6ljaktligen \u00f6versteg den och blev en del av popkulturen. Men i verkligheten tillverkades Chevrolet Bel Air i tre decennier, under vilka \u00e5tta av dess generationer bytte plats. I den h\u00e4r artikeln ska vi g\u00e5 igenom var och en av dem och se vilka som \u00e4r de mest anm\u00e4rkningsv\u00e4rda.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Id\u00e9n bakom Chevrolet Bel Air<\/h2><p>Chevrolet \u00e4r utan tvekan ett av de m\u00e4rken som bidrog till att g\u00f6ra USA motoriserat, s\u00e4rskilt under efterkrigstiden. Sedan starten har denna Detroitbaserade tillverkare tillverkat praktiska modeller med utm\u00e4rkt v\u00e4rde f\u00f6r pengarna. <strong>Under m\u00e5nga \u00e5r har deras bilar utformats med en genomsnittlig amerikansk familj i \u00e5tanke f\u00f6r att passa deras behov och budget<\/strong>. Chevrolet var p\u00e5 s\u00e4tt och vis f\u00f6r USA vad Volkswagen var f\u00f6r Tyskland eller Fiat f\u00f6r Italien.<\/p><p>Situationen b\u00f6rjade f\u00f6r\u00e4ndras i slutet av 40-talet, d\u00e5 bilf\u00f6rs\u00e4ljningen gick som t\u00e5get. Men \u00e4nnu viktigare \u00e4r att allt fler framtida k\u00f6pare ville ha en bil som \u00e4r mer \u00e4n ett transportmedel. F\u00f6rutom praktiska egenskaper och pris b\u00f6rjade de fokusera p\u00e5 saker som kul och sp\u00e4nning.  <strong>Chevrolet svarade p\u00e5 denna nya trend med flera nya fordon, varav Bel Air var ett.<\/strong>  Tanken bakom \u00e4r enkel &#8211; ta en stor och rymlig bil, s\u00e4tt en stor motor i den och utrusta den med en rad lyxiga funktioner. Chevrolets chefer hoppades p\u00e5 att locka k\u00f6pare som ville ha ett sp\u00e4nnande och engagerande fordon med ett v\u00e4lrenommerat och v\u00e4lbepr\u00f6vat m\u00e4rke. Men de kunde inte f\u00f6rutse att de med Bel Air lade grunden f\u00f6r en ny typ av fordon &#8211; muskelbilen.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Den f\u00f6rsta Chevrolet Bel Air<\/h2><p>Bel Air lanserades ursprungligen 1949 som en uppgraderad, tv\u00e5d\u00f6rrars hardtop-version av Chevrolets popul\u00e4ra sedans Fleetline och Styleline. Det \u00e4r d\u00e4rf\u00f6r dessa bilar hade en n\u00e4stan identisk front, med taklinjen och silhuetten som de enda anm\u00e4rkningsv\u00e4rda skillnaderna.  <strong>Men n\u00e4r den nya Bel Air, som fick sitt namn fr\u00e5n en rik och f\u00e4rgstark f\u00f6rort till Los Angles, blev popul\u00e4r bland k\u00f6parna gjorde Chevrolet den till en separat modell.<\/strong>  Som ett resultat av detta fanns bilar fr\u00e5n 1953 och fram\u00e5t i m\u00e5nga fler karossformer. F\u00f6rutom en 2-d\u00f6rrars coup\u00e9 och cabrioleter fanns det \u00e4ven 4-d\u00f6rrars sedans och till och med en kombi. Denna 3,9-litersmotor inneh\u00f6ll olika moderna tekniska l\u00f6sningar och hade 115 h\u00e4stkrafter. N\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller v\u00e4xell\u00e5dorna kunde k\u00f6parna v\u00e4lja mellan en 3-v\u00e4xlad manuell v\u00e4xell\u00e5da och en 2-v\u00e4xlad Powerglide-automatik. Dessutom hade bilen en oberoende framhjulsupph\u00e4ngning, vilket var ovanligt och progressivt p\u00e5 den tiden.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Chevrolet Bel Airs andra generation<\/h2><p>Till 1955 \u00e5rs modell sl\u00e4ppte Chevrolet den andra versionen av den framg\u00e5ngsrika Bel Air. Den nya bilen var helt omgjord, med den Ferrari-inspirerade frontgrillen som den mest anm\u00e4rkningsv\u00e4rda detaljen.  <strong>Men \u00e5sikterna om denna funktion var mycket delade bland k\u00f6parna, s\u00e5 den fick ge vika f\u00f6r ett mer konventionellt galler under de senare \u00e5ren.<\/strong>  Utbudet av tillg\u00e4ngliga karossvarianter var liknande som i f\u00f6reg\u00e5ngaren, med till\u00e4gg av en 2-d\u00f6rrars kombi. P\u00e5 s\u00e4tt och vis \u00e4r detta en av de mest ikoniska amerikanska bilarna som n\u00e5gonsin tillverkats, och det \u00e4r f\u00f6rmodligen om\u00f6jligt att hitta en bilentusiast som inte k\u00e4nner igen den. Dessutom kunde toppmodellerna best\u00e4llas med ett valfritt luftkonditioneringssystem. F\u00f6rutom det attraktiva utseendet fick den nya bilen ber\u00f6m f\u00f6r sina prestanda och sin \u00f6vergripande hantering.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Tredje generationen Chevrolet Bel Air<\/h2><p>1958, bara tre \u00e5r efter att ha introducerat den popul\u00e4ra andra generationens Bel Air, kom Chevrolet med en ers\u00e4ttare. Den <strong>kommande modellen var betydligt annorlunda och hade endast ett f\u00e5tal likheter med den utg\u00e5ende<\/strong> modellen. Bland de egenskaper som gjorde den utm\u00e4rkande \u00e4r en l\u00e4gre och l\u00e4ngre karosslinje och fyra str\u00e5lkastare de mest p\u00e5tagliga. Till en b\u00f6rjan togs kombivagnen bort fr\u00e5n sortimentet, men \u00e5terkom senare som en separat modell med namnet Nomad. Den <strong>gamla Thriftmaster 3,5-liters sexcylindern fanns inte l\u00e4ngre tillg\u00e4nglig, och en V8-block med stort block blev ett alternativ<\/strong>. Slutligen var den nya Bel Air en av de f\u00f6rsta Chevrolets som anv\u00e4nde ett uppdaterat chassi, kallat Safety-Girder, som var l\u00e4ttare och styvare.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Bel Airs ikoniska fj\u00e4rde generation<\/h2><p>Den tredje generationens Bel Air var kortlivad, eftersom den ersattes av en ny modell 1959. Trots att den nya Chevy har en del likheter med den utg\u00e5ende bilen har den ett helt nytt formspr\u00e5k.  <strong>Detta innefattar en omdesignad frontgrill med toppmonterade klyftor och unikt formade bakljus.<\/strong>  Faktum \u00e4r att de platta bakre fenorna \u00e4r en av de mest ikoniska bilformerna fr\u00e5n det tidiga 60-talet. I allm\u00e4nhet erbj\u00f6d dessa bilar hyfsade prestanda och en f\u00f6r den tiden mer \u00e4n acceptabel br\u00e4nsleekonomi.  <\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Den sista Bel Air-generationen i USA<\/h2><p>N\u00e4r den sjunde generationen av Bel Air introducerades 1970 var f\u00f6rs\u00e4ljningen av stora sedans i fritt fall.  <strong>F\u00f6r att kompensera detta fokuserade Chevrolet p\u00e5 flotta kunder som en prim\u00e4r marknad f\u00f6r sin nya bil.<\/strong>  Syftet var att vara ett billigare alternativ till Caprice och Impala, som den delade design med. Detta innebar bland annat skarpa kanter och en boxig kroppsform. Liksom sin f\u00f6reg\u00e5ngare fanns den nya Bel Air som sedan eller kombi med upp till nio sittplatser.<\/p><p>Alla tillg\u00e4ngliga motor- och transmissionsalternativ har tagits med fr\u00e5n de utg\u00e5ende modellerna, men i ett reducerat utbud.  <strong>P\u00e5 sin tid var Bel Air den sista amerikanska storbilen som erbj\u00f6d en manuell v\u00e4xell\u00e5da.<\/strong>  Andra uppdateringar under huden var m\u00e4tare som visade den momentana br\u00e4nslef\u00f6rbrukningen och st\u00f6tf\u00e5ngare som var resistenta mot st\u00f6tar i l\u00e5ga hastigheter.  <\/p><p>Medan Caprice trivdes bra p\u00e5 marknaden som typisk polis- eller taxibil, gick det inte lika bra f\u00f6r Bel Air.
