Aqui est\u00e1 uma hist\u00f3ria sobre um Porsche esquecido que deveria ter recebido mais cr\u00e9dito e porque \u00e9 que a ideia por detr\u00e1s deste carro ainda \u00e9 relevante.<\/p>\n<p>Muito trabalho foi introduzido na introdu\u00e7\u00e3o do Porsche 911 em 1963. Concebido como um sucessor maior, mais capaz e mais poderoso do ic\u00f3nico Porsche 356, o 911 foi completamente reestruturado para os tempos modernos.  <strong>O resultado foi definitivamente impressionante, e o novo carro foi um grande salto em frente para uma pequena f\u00e1brica que a Porsche estava no per\u00edodo.<\/strong>  No entanto, teve um custo. Se olharmos para os pre\u00e7os, \u00e9 f\u00e1cil perceber porqu\u00ea. <strong>O nov\u00edssimo 911 custou cerca de $6500, o que foi um pre\u00e7o bastante elevado, especialmente quando os seus rivais mais pr\u00f3ximos (Chevrolet Corvette e Jaguar E-Type) eram mais poderosos e mais r\u00e1pidos e tamb\u00e9m vendidos por consideravelmente menos dinheiro<\/strong>. N\u00e3o ajudou que o in\u00edcio do 911 fosse criticado por manipula\u00e7\u00e3o problem\u00e1tica no limite, manuten\u00e7\u00e3o complicada devido ao novo motor, problemas com a ferrugem, e que o equipamento opcional fosse um pouco limitado. Contudo, vendo que as vendas eram muito lentas, Ferry Porsche instou os seus engenheiros, e a nova vers\u00e3o foi colocada em produ\u00e7\u00e3o. O Porsche 912 era quase indistingu\u00edvel do exterior, apresentando o mesmo design, detalhes, acabamentos e dimens\u00f5es. No entanto, a diferen\u00e7a estava no comboio de trac\u00e7\u00e3o, e 912 utilizaram um motor de 1,6 litros, de haste plana, de 1,6 litros, da Porsche 356 SC. Foi quase $2000 a menos do que o irm\u00e3o com motor maior, mas tinha o mesmo aspecto e a mesma sensa\u00e7\u00e3o de condu\u00e7\u00e3o. O motor de 90 cv n\u00e3o era o mais potente na estrada, mas proporcionou ao 912 um desempenho decente durante o per\u00edodo. Os 0 a 60 mph demoraram cerca de 14 segundos, e a velocidade m\u00e1xima foi de 115 mph, o suficiente para um carro desportivo de n\u00edvel b\u00e1sico.  <strong>Contudo, os benef\u00edcios deste modelo n\u00e3o foram apenas os pre\u00e7os baixos ou o facto de ser a vers\u00e3o &#8220;911 light&#8221;.<\/strong>  O 912 foi genuinamente bem constru\u00eddo e proporcionou uma excelente sensa\u00e7\u00e3o de condu\u00e7\u00e3o e uma direc\u00e7\u00e3o afiada. Uma vez que apresentava um motor mais pequeno e menos compromissos de luxo, era tamb\u00e9m mais leve do que o 911 padr\u00e3o e baseava a balan\u00e7a apenas a 980 kgs. Um motor comprovado e mais simples significava que o 912 era mais dur\u00e1vel e mais f\u00e1cil de manter, e todo o pacote tinha mais uma vantagem surpreendente &#8211; o consumo de combust\u00edvel. Com menor peso, menor deslocamento, e dois cilindros a menos, os 912 utilizavam muito pouco combust\u00edvel. Com um MSRP de cerca de 4800 d\u00f3lares, estava ao alcance de um p\u00fablico mais vasto, e durante a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de 1965 a 1969, a Porsche fabricou cerca de 30.000 autom\u00f3veis que salvaram a empresa 911 como modelo e a ajudaram a crescer e a financiar os extraordin\u00e1rios esfor\u00e7os desportivos motorizados, incluindo a vit\u00f3ria de Le Mans em 1970. Chamado Porsche 912 E, este foi um modelo de n\u00edvel b\u00e1sico que serviu para preencher a lacuna entre a descontinua\u00e7\u00e3o do Porsche\/VW 914 e o novo modelo 924, com motor dianteiro.
