Con\u00e7ue pour \u00eatre aussi \u00e0 l&#8217;aise sur les circuits de course que sur l&#8217;Autostrada, la 250 GT SWB associait parfaitement le r\u00e9cit de la marque, un design magnifique et le rugissement fantastique du moteur V12 3,0 litres \u00e9ponyme de Colombo.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 50, Ferrari \u00e9tait une marque de supercars reconnaissable avec deux gammes de mod\u00e8les distinctes. D&#8217;une part, les machines de course qui dominent les championnats du Mans et de Formule 1, et d&#8217;autre part, les coup\u00e9s et cabriolets GT destin\u00e9s \u00e0 la route et con\u00e7us pour les clients fortun\u00e9s.  <strong>Ce n&#8217;\u00e9tait pas un secret qu&#8217;Enzo Ferrari \u00e9tait d\u00e9sireux de participer \u00e0 toutes les s\u00e9ries qu&#8217;il pouvait, et lorsqu&#8217;il s&#8217;est rendu compte que certains de ses clients voulaient une voiture de course homologu\u00e9e pour la route, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 plus que ravi de la leur fournir.<\/strong>  \u00c0 l&#8217;\u00e9poque, la course GT s&#8217;est impos\u00e9e comme l&#8217;un des championnats les plus passionnants, avec des voitures de sport de marques comme Maserati, Jaguar et Aston Martin. Bien entendu, Enzo voulait participer \u00e0 l&#8217;action et a confi\u00e9 \u00e0 ses ing\u00e9nieurs la t\u00e2che de transformer le mod\u00e8le 250 GT standard en une b\u00eate de course. Bizzarinni et ses coll\u00e8gues ont r\u00e9alis\u00e9 que le ch\u00e2ssis de s\u00e9rie \u00e9tait trop long pour une voiture de course agile et qu&#8217;une carrosserie l\u00e9g\u00e8re \u00e9tait n\u00e9cessaire pour r\u00e9duire le poids et am\u00e9liorer les performances.  <strong>Ils ont donc raccourci le plancher du coup\u00e9 250 GT de 20 cm, r\u00e9duisant l&#8217;empattement de 2600 mm \u00e0 2400 mm<\/strong>. C&#8217;\u00e9tait une d\u00e9cision radicale, mais elle a port\u00e9 ses fruits puisque le nouveau mod\u00e8le \u00e9tait non seulement plus agile et compact, mais aussi plus l\u00e9ger et plus stable. L&#8217;utilisation de panneaux en aluminium a \u00e9t\u00e9 l&#8217;\u00e9tape suivante, et bien que cela ait augment\u00e9 le prix, cela a permis de maintenir le poids total de la voiture juste en dessous de 960 kg, ce qui a contribu\u00e9 aux performances. Les jeunes ing\u00e9nieurs de Ferrari savaient que les voitures de course avaient besoin de modifications de la suspension pour \u00eatre comp\u00e9titives et se comporter correctement. Les <strong>mod\u00e8les de la s\u00e9rie 250 utilisaient tous un essieu arri\u00e8re direct avec des ressorts \u00e0 lames, une conception primitive mais efficace<\/strong>. Enzo n&#8217;\u00e9tait pas pr\u00eat \u00e0 investir dans le r\u00e9glage ind\u00e9pendant, qui aurait sans aucun doute am\u00e9lior\u00e9 les capacit\u00e9s en virage, l&#8217;\u00e9quipe a donc d\u00fb modifier la disposition existante afin de donner \u00e0 la voiture une meilleure tenue de route. Cependant, ce mod\u00e8le est devenu beaucoup plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son surnom SWB, qui signifie &#8220;empattement court&#8221;. D&#8217;un c\u00f4t\u00e9, elle disposait d&#8217;un int\u00e9rieur utilisable, d&#8217;une dynamique de conduite qui permettait \u00e0 son propri\u00e9taire de l&#8217;utiliser quotidiennement, et de performances abordables associ\u00e9es \u00e0 une tenue et un freinage sublimes.
