Disse mytiske maskiner, der befinder sig mellem virkelighed og fiktion, var de bedste biler, som Bugatti nogensinde har lavet. Desv\u00e6rre var de ogs\u00e5 den sidste relevante serie, inden den legendariske bilproducent lukkede sine d\u00f8re i begyndelsen af 1950&#8217;erne. I begyndelsen af tyverne var Jean Bugatti en meget ung, men uhyre talentfuld ingeni\u00f8r, der kunne indarbejde sin fars \u00f8nsker, \u00f8ge motorkraften og k\u00f8reegenskaberne og pr\u00e6sentere en helt igennem moderne bil, der kunne udfylde mange funktioner. I 1934 pr\u00e6senterede Bugatti stolt Type 57. Det er interessant, at da Bugatti pr\u00e6senterede Type 57, fremviste de ikke det komplette k\u00f8ret\u00f8j, men kun chassiset med motor og drivlinje. Dengang havde sm\u00e5 virksomheder som Bugatti ikke kapacitet til selv at fremstille karosserier, og kunderne k\u00f8bte derfor i princippet det k\u00f8rende chassis fra Bugatti og bestilte derefter et af de mange karrosseriv\u00e6rksteder for at f\u00e5 skr\u00e6ddersyet karosserier til deres nye bil. Den havde avancerede hydrauliske bremser, der blev indf\u00f8rt i l\u00f8bet af produktionsperioden, og en betydelig ydeevne. Afh\u00e6ngigt af version og karrosseri kunne Type 57 n\u00e5 op p\u00e5 115 mph, hvilket blev betragtet som Ludacris-hastighed i midten af 1930&#8217;erne. T-versionen for &#8220;tunet&#8221; havde en h\u00f8jere topfart, men &#8220;C&#8221; var et sandt monster, der leverede 160 hk ved hj\u00e6lp af en mekanisk kompressor. <strong>Jean inds\u00e5 imidlertid, at for at kunne k\u00f8re hurtigere, skulle Type 57 v\u00e6re lavere og mere dynamisk<\/strong>. Dette kr\u00e6vede en gennemgribende ombygning af chassiset, tilf\u00f8jelse af et dry-sump-system og et v\u00e6ld af andre forbedringer sammen med den nye modelbetegnelse. Type 57 S og Type 57 SC var det ultimative udtryk for Jeans tilgang og en af de hurtigste biler i sin tid. Med tilf\u00f8jelsen af en kompressor leverede den ombyggede motor nu 175 til 200 hk og kunne presse Type 57 til over 120 mph. S\/SC-modellerne var naturligvis meget dyre, og Bugatti fremstillede oprindeligt kun 43 Type 57 S-modeller og kun to Type 57 SC-biler. Mange ejere af T57 S har dog eftermonteret kompressorerne efter leveringen for at \u00f8ge deres k\u00f8ret\u00f8jers ydeevne. I 1936 vandt Bugatti det franske Grand Prix med en s\u00e6rlig Type 57G &#8220;Tank&#8221;, som havde en meget st\u00f8rre 4,7-liters motor og et aerodynamisk karrosseri.<\/p>\n<p>Men historien om Bugatti Type 57 er kun komplet, hvis vi n\u00e6vner to fantastiske undermodeller. Den f\u00f8rste er den l\u00e6nge forsvundne Bugatti T57 Aerolithe, der blev introduceret i 1935. Bilen var grundl\u00e6ggende en konceptbil, der blev fremstillet p\u00e5 et forkortet chassis og med et karrosseri af Elektron.  <strong>Denne unikke legering blev fremstillet af aluminium og magnesium og er stadig en af de letteste legeringer i bilproduktionen.<\/strong>  Det var imidlertid enormt dyrt (og det er det ogs\u00e5 nu) og var kendt for at v\u00e6re meget brandfarligt.
