Der er <b>dog ikke mange, der ved, at Spitfire havde en st\u00f8rre coup\u00e9bror med en sekscylindret motor og et karrosseri, der blev udformet til 24 timer p\u00e5 Le Mans<\/b>. Selv om den er lidt glemt af almindelige samlere, emmer Triumph GT6 af elegance, en elegant, halsbr\u00e6kkende straight-six-motor og et letv\u00e6gtshus, der lover en uforglemmelig k\u00f8reoplevelse. Her er grunden til, at denne flotte coup\u00e9 burde v\u00e6re mere kendt, og hvorfor priserne stiger st\u00f8t.  <\/p>\n<p>Triumph Motor Company var et af de mest kendte britiske m\u00e6rker i 60&#8217;erne med et sortiment af flere roadster-modeller og sporty to- og fired\u00f8rs sedans. I 1962 introducerede Triumph Spitfire, en elegant to-d\u00f8rs roadster, der blev produceret i n\u00e6sten 20 \u00e5r og definerede sit segment, idet den solgte i store m\u00e6ngder og p\u00e5 begge sider af havet.  <b>Spitfire havde en enkel, men effektiv konstruktion og viste sig at v\u00e6re et godt grundlag for en racerbil<\/b>. Umiddelbart efter introduktionen besluttede Triumphs produktplanl\u00e6ggere imidlertid, at coup\u00e9en ville v\u00e6re en fremragende tilf\u00f8jelse til sortimentet. Samtidig startede firmaet et racingprogram med modificerede Spitfires med en fastback-top kaldet GT4. Triumphs ingeni\u00f8rer inds\u00e5 imidlertid, at coup\u00e9karrosseriet var tungere end roadsterkarrosseriet, og at den nye model ville have brug for en kraftigere motor. Triumph GT6 fremh\u00e6vede den voksne karakter, Gran Turismo-funktionerne og den sekscylindrede motor, som var det st\u00f8rste salgsargument. Med 95 hk og en karosseri, der vejede 850 kg, var GT6 dynamisk nok til at fange k\u00f8bernes og motorpressens opm\u00e6rksomhed.  <b>GT6 var dyrere end Spitfire, men den var ogs\u00e5 mere luksuri\u00f8s, mere rummelig og hurtigere, hvilket retf\u00e6rdiggjorde prisen.  <\/b>Triumphs marketingafdeling brugte Le Mans-succesen til at promovere dens ydeevne; selv om GT6 ikke havde noget at g\u00f8re med GT4-racerprogrammet, virkede stuntet. De lancerede endda et halvoffentligt k\u00e6lenavn, &#8220;Fattigmands E-Type&#8221;, som ogs\u00e5 blev h\u00e6ngende af indlysende \u00e5rsager. Begge biler var britiske, havde de samme proportioner og var designet og drevet af seks-cylindrede motorer. Selvf\u00f8lgelig var E-Type hurtigere, men med en 0 til 60-tid p\u00e5 lidt over 10 sekunder blev GT6 Mk1 betragtet som dynamisk efter datidens standarder. Bilpressen kritiserede dog svingakselkonstruktionen, der var l\u00e5nt fra Spitfire. Firmaet tog fat p\u00e5 kritikken af h\u00e5ndteringen med den st\u00e6rkt reviderede baghjulsaffjedring, som gav langt bedre kontrol og endelig gav GT6 den stabilitet, den havde brug for for at v\u00e6re konkurrencedygtig. <b>Designet blev forbedret med en ny for- og bagende, forskellige kofangere og detaljer i lighed med Spitfire<\/b>. Ingeni\u00f8rerne har dog ikke glemt motoren. Med nye knastaksler, et nyt cylinderhoved og en indsugning leverede den sekscylindrede maskine 104 hk. Ikke meget, men det forbedrede ydeevnen og endda br\u00e6ndstof\u00f8konomien. Efter udviklingen af Spitfire-designet fik GT6 en mere moderne kofanger, baglygter, interi\u00f8r og endda en justering af baghjulsaffjedringen. Effekten forblev p\u00e5 samme niveau, men GT6 Mk III havde en h\u00f8jere topfart p\u00e5 grund af forbedret aerodynamik. Men p\u00e5 trods af at Triumph blev mere kompetent og moden, besluttede Triumph at aflive denne model i 1973. Derfor fik den en helt s\u00e6rlig hyldest i 2007 i form af BMW Z4 Coup\u00e9 (E86).  <b>Da BMW k\u00f8bte Rover i 1994, k\u00f8bte virksomheden ogs\u00e5 flere nedlagte British Leyland-m\u00e6rker, herunder Triumph.
