I l\u00f8bet af de tre \u00e5rtier, den blev produceret, blev den fremstillet i fire forskellige generationer, og hver af dem har sin charme. Derfor er det n\u00e6sten umuligt at udpege nogen af dem som de mest betydningsfulde. S\u00e5 i denne artikel vil vi d\u00e6kke alle Triumph Spitfire-generationerne og se, hvordan de har p\u00e5virket bilverdenen. Desuden vil vi finde ud af, hvilken af disse roadsters der er mest eftertragtet af bilentusiaster og samlere i dag.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Hvordan Triumph Spitfire fik sit navn<\/h2><p>F\u00f8r vi g\u00e5r i dybden med de tekniske specifikationer og andre detaljer, skal vi f\u00f8rst unders\u00f8ge oprindelsen af Spitfire-navnet. <strong>I virkeligheden har denne ikoniske bil sit navneskilt fra en anden legende, som var med til at omforme verden i 1940<\/strong>. Det var det \u00e5r, hvor tyskerne, som netop havde erobret hele Europa, vendte deres opm\u00e6rksomhed mod Storbritannien. Deres plan var at f\u00e5 denne sidste rest af frihed til at afslutte krigen ved at bombe deres byer og landsbyer intensivt. Og i begyndelsen s\u00e5 det ud til, at Luftwaffe ville f\u00e5 succes med deres forehavende, da de havde den totale overh\u00f8jhed i luften. Det var i hvert fald indtil RIF fik styr p\u00e5 deres strategi og begyndte at afv\u00e6rge angriberne.<\/p><p>Under disse kampe i luften var der is\u00e6r \u00e9t fly, der viste sig at v\u00e6re yderst vellykket og skille sig ud fra resten &#8211; Supermarine Spitfire. <strong>Dette nyudviklede jagerfly kunne nemt overman\u00f8vrere Messerschmitts og andre tyske rivaler, hvilket derfor hjalp briterne med at vende krigen til deres fordel<\/strong>. Selv om Spitfires var dygtige, vandt de helt sikkert ikke alene slaget om England, da andre fly havde deres andel i denne enorme succes. Men i nationens \u00f8jne var det den storsl\u00e5ede Spitfire, der \u00e6ndrede spillet og i sidste ende reddede Det Forenede Kongerige. P\u00e5 grund af dette fik den et ry som n\u00e6sten en nationalhelt, hvis succeser er blevet forgudet lige siden. Det var kun naturligt, at alt, hvad der senere skulle b\u00e6re Spitfire-navnet, ville have en enorm v\u00e6gt p\u00e5 sine skuldre. Og i begyndelsen af 60&#8217;erne var Triumph fast besluttet p\u00e5, at de havde en bil, der kunne klare udfordringen. S\u00e5 her er historien om den legendariske Triumph Spitfire.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Spitfires&#8217; n\u00e6sten sk\u00e6bnesvangre prototype<\/h2><p>En anden interessant kendsgerning om Spitfire, bilen, er, at den n\u00e6sten ikke blev produceret. Arbejdet med prototypen startede faktisk i slutningen af 50&#8217;erne, da Triumph var en selvst\u00e6ndig bilproducent. Denne nye roadster skulle v\u00e6re baseret p\u00e5 den succesfulde Herald-salon, hvis chassis og mekanik den skulle bruge.  <strong>Den mest markante forskel mellem de to modeller er karrosseriet, idet den kommende roadster er designet af den italienske designer Giovanni Michelotti.<\/strong>  Men produktionen m\u00e5tte uds\u00e6ttes p\u00e5 grund af Triumphs \u00f8konomiske vanskeligheder i begyndelsen af 60&#8217;erne. Dette f\u00f8rte til, at den blev opk\u00f8bt af en langt st\u00f8rre Leyland. De nye ejere, som opdagede den n\u00e6sten forladte prototype, var begejstrede for dens udseende og skyndte sig at f\u00e5 den i produktion.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Den f\u00f8rste generation af Triumph Spitfire<\/h2><p>Da Spitfire blev introduceret i produktion i 1962, var den n\u00e6sten identisk med den flere \u00e5r \u00e6ldre prototype. De eneste bem\u00e6rkelsesv\u00e6rdige forskelle var en redesignet bagkofanger, som nu var opdelt i to segmenter, og en anden k\u00f8lergrill. Bortset fra det var denne bil pr\u00e6cis, hvad den oprindeligt skulle v\u00e6re &#8211; en lille bil med \u00e5bent tag, to s\u00e6der og et i\u00f8jnefaldende udseende. <strong>Ligesom konkurrenterne var Triumphs karrosserilinjer domineret af en lang k\u00f8lerhjelm og et kort, skr\u00e5t bagagerumsd\u00e6ksel<\/strong>. Men i mods\u00e6tning til de fleste af dem kunne den f\u00e5s med et let sammenfoldeligt presenningtag eller en hardtop som ekstraudstyr. Det bet\u00f8d, at den bl.a. havde en avanceret forhjulsaffjedring og et responsivt tandhjulsstyringssystem og andre avancerede funktioner.<strong> Men dens varem\u00e6rke var bagtil, hvor der blev anvendt svingaksler bagtil i stedet for en traditionel konfiguration med levende aksler<\/strong>. Denne ops\u00e6tning blev berygtet for sin anvendelse i Chevrolet Corvair, som kunne overstyre voldsomt eller endda v\u00e6lte. Men denne tendens var ikke s\u00e5 fremtr\u00e6dende i en lille og let bil som Spitfire. I virkeligheden kan en dygtig chauff\u00f8r kontrollere overstyring, n\u00e5r det sker, og holde bilen p\u00e5 kant, hvilket g\u00f8r k\u00f8reoplevelsen endnu mere sp\u00e6ndende. Motoren var en lille 1,2-liters 4-cylindret st\u00f8dstangsmotor med 4 cylindre, som ydede 63 hestekr\u00e6fter. Det virker m\u00e5ske ikke s\u00e5 meget, men Spitfire var ekstremt let med en v\u00e6gt p\u00e5 kun 1.500 pund. Med dette og en velafbalanceret transmission kunne denne roadster tilbyde en konkurrencedygtig ydeevne.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Triumph Spitfire&#8217;s anden generation<\/h2><p>Da den f\u00f8rste Triumph var et hit blandt k\u00f8berne og blev solgt i stort antal, besluttede Triumph ikke at \u00e6ndre meget p\u00e5 den, da man arbejdede p\u00e5 dens efterf\u00f8lger. Som f\u00f8lge heraf lignede den nye bil, der blev introduceret i 1965, den bil, den erstattede, med kun f\u00e5 kosmetiske opdateringer.  <strong>Dette omfattede bl.a. en anderledes udformet k\u00f8lergrill og mere luksuri\u00f8s polstring. Men denne gang havde den nye bil et markant nyt design og forskellige opdaterede funktioner. <strong>Mens den overordnede form forblev den samme, havde den nye bil mere aggressive karrosserilinjer<\/strong>. Dette omfattede bl.a. meget st\u00f8rre hjulkasser og en revideret forende. Derfor blev der brugt en opdateret 1,3-liters motor med 75 hestekr\u00e6fter. Med en <strong>0-100-tid p\u00e5 under 13 sekunder og en topfart p\u00e5 n\u00e6sten 100 mph var den nye Spitfire mere end konkurrencedygtig med sine konkurrenter<\/strong>. Alligevel blev modellerne til det amerikanske marked i 1969 \u00e6ndret en smule for at opfylde de kommende regler for emissionskontrol.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Triumph Spitfire&#8217;s fjerde iteration<\/h2><p>Den fjerde generation, som kom p\u00e5 markedet i 1970, Spitfire havde n\u00e6sten en identisk forende til sin forg\u00e6nger, da designeren fokuserede p\u00e5 bagenden. Her blev der anvendt en mere firkantet karrosseriform inspireret af den nye og meget succesfulde Stag. Indvendigt blev instrumentgruppen flyttet fra sin traditionelle centrale placering til foran f\u00f8reren.  <strong>Desuden var der en ombygget hardtop, som var mere robust, tilg\u00e6ngelig.<\/strong><\/p><p>De fleste af mekanikken var ret ens med dem i den udg\u00e5ende model. Ved at indarbejde forskellige sikkerhedsfunktioner blev den nye Spitfire en smule tungere, hvilket havde en indvirkning p\u00e5 ydeevnen. Men den mest markante \u00e6ndring blev foretaget p\u00e5 baghjulsaffjedringen, som afhj\u00e6lper bilens noget uforudsigelige k\u00f8reegenskaber. Ved at \u00e6ndre den berygtede svingaksel og give den en negativ camber lykkedes det Triumphs ingeni\u00f8rer at g\u00f8re den nye Spitfire lettere at styre.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Den sidste af Triumph Spitfire<\/h2><p>Den nye og det, der skulle blive den sidste Triumph Spitfire, blev introduceret i slutningen af 1973. P\u00e5 grund af den gode modtagelse af de gamle biler besluttede designerne at undlade at \u00e6ndre udvendigt og indvendigt design i v\u00e6sentlig grad. De <strong>eneste \u00e6ndringer blev foretaget p\u00e5 kofangere og forlygter for at opfylde de nye sikkerhedsstandarder<\/strong>.
