Og for 50&#8217;ernes vedkommende er det Rock&#8217;n&#8217;Roll og selvf\u00f8lgelig Chevrolet Bell Air. Denne ikoniske bil havde flere meget genkendelige versioner, hvis popularitet derfor voksede ud over den og blev en del af popkulturen. Men i virkeligheden blev Chevrolet Bel Air fremstillet i tre \u00e5rtier, hvor otte af generationerne byttede plads i l\u00f8bet af denne periode. I denne artikel gennemg\u00e5r vi hver enkelt af dem og ser, hvilke der er de mest bem\u00e6rkelsesv\u00e6rdige.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Ideen bag Chevrolet Bel Air<\/h2><p>Chevrolet er utvivlsomt et af de m\u00e6rker, der bidrog til at g\u00f8re USA motoriseret, is\u00e6r i efterkrigstiden. Siden starten har denne Detroit-baserede producent fremstillet praktiske modeller, der har givet fremragende v\u00e6rdi for pengene. <strong>Og i mange \u00e5r blev deres biler designet med den gennemsnitlige amerikanske familie i tankerne, s\u00e5 de passede til deres behov og budget<\/strong>. Chevrolet var p\u00e5 en m\u00e5de for USA, hvad Volkswagen var for Tyskland eller Fiat for Italien.<\/p><p>Situationen begyndte at \u00e6ndre sig i slutningen af 40&#8217;erne, hvor bilsalget steg voldsomt. Men endnu vigtigere var det, at et stigende antal fremtidige k\u00f8bere \u00f8nskede en bil, der var mere end blot en transportmiddel. Ud over praktisk anvendelighed og pris begyndte de at fokusere p\u00e5 ting som sjov og sp\u00e6nding.  <strong>Chevrolet reagerede p\u00e5 denne nye tendens med flere nye biler, hvoraf Bel Air var en af dem.<\/strong>  Id\u00e9en bag er enkel &#8211; tag en stor og rummelig bil, s\u00e6t en stor motor i den og udstyr den med et udvalg af luksuri\u00f8se funktioner. Cheferne hos Chevrolet h\u00e5bede p\u00e5 at tiltr\u00e6kke k\u00f8bere, der \u00f8nskede en sp\u00e6ndende og engagerende bil, der blev bakket op af et velrenommeret og velafpr\u00f8vet m\u00e6rke. Men de kunne ikke forudse, at de med Bel Air var ved at l\u00e6gge grunden til en ny type bil &#8211; muskelbilen.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Den f\u00f8rste Chevrolet Bel Air<\/h2><p>Bel Air blev oprindeligt introduceret i 1949 som en opskaleret, 2-d\u00f8rs hardtop-version af Chevrolets popul\u00e6re Fleetline- og Styleline-sedaner. Derfor havde disse biler en n\u00e6sten identisk front, med taglinjen og silhuetten som de eneste bem\u00e6rkelsesv\u00e6rdige forskelle.  <strong>Men da den nye Bel Air, der havde sit navn efter en rig og farverig forstad til Los Angles, blev popul\u00e6r blandt k\u00f8berne, gjorde Chevrolet den til en separat model.<\/strong>  Som f\u00f8lge heraf kunne biler fra 1953 og fremefter f\u00e5s i flere forskellige karrosseriformer. Ud over en 2-d\u00f8rs coup\u00e9 og cabrioleter var der ogs\u00e5 4-d\u00f8rs sedaner og endda en stationcar. Denne 3,9-liters motor indeholdt forskellige moderne tekniske l\u00f8sninger og havde 115 hestekr\u00e6fter. Hvad ang\u00e5r gearkassen, kunne k\u00f8berne v\u00e6lge mellem en 3-trins manuel gearkasse og en 2-trins Powerglide-automat. Desuden havde bilen en uafh\u00e6ngig forhjulsoph\u00e6ng, hvilket var us\u00e6dvanligt og progressivt p\u00e5 den tid.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Chevrolet Bel Air&#8217;s anden generation<\/h2><p>Til model\u00e5ret 1955 udgav Chevrolet den anden udgave af den succesfulde Bel Air. Den nye bil fik en helt ny stil, hvor den Ferrari-inspirerede frontgrill var den mest bem\u00e6rkelsesv\u00e6rdige detalje.  <strong>Meningerne om denne funktion var meget delte blandt k\u00f8berne, s\u00e5 den gav plads til en mere konventionel k\u00f8lergrill i de senere \u00e5r.<\/strong>  Udvalget af tilg\u00e6ngelige karrosseriformer lignede dem, som dens forg\u00e6nger tilb\u00f8d, med tilf\u00f8jelse af en 2-d\u00f8rs stationcar. P\u00e5 en m\u00e5de er dette en af de mest ikoniske amerikanske biler nogensinde, og det er nok umuligt at finde en bilentusiast, der ikke kan genkende den. Desuden kunne topmodellerne bestilles med et valgfrit klimaanl\u00e6g. Ud over det attraktive udseende blev den nye bil rost for sin ydeevne og generelle k\u00f8reegenskaber.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Tredje generation af Chevrolet Bel Air<\/h2><p>I 1958, kun tre \u00e5r efter at have introduceret den popul\u00e6re Bel Air af anden generation, kom Chevrolet med en afl\u00f8ser for den. <strong>Den kommende model var markant anderledes og havde kun f\u00e5 ligheder med den udg\u00e5ende model<\/strong>. Blandt de kendetegn, der gjorde den karakteristisk, er en lavere, l\u00e6ngere karrosserilinje og fire forlygter de mest bem\u00e6rkelsesv\u00e6rdige. I f\u00f8rste omgang blev stationcar&#8217;en fjernet fra sortimentet, men den dukkede senere op igen som en separat model kaldet Nomad. Den <strong>gamle Thriftmaster 3,5-liters sekscylinder med seks cylindre var ikke l\u00e6ngere tilg\u00e6ngelig, og en big block V8 blev en mulighed<\/strong>. Endelig var den nye Bel Air en af de f\u00f8rste Chevrolets, der brugte et opdateret chassis, kaldet Safety-Girder, som var lettere og mere stiv.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Bel Airs ikoniske fjerde generation<\/h2><p>Den tredje generation af Bel Air var kortvarig, da den blev erstattet af en efterf\u00f8lger i 1959. Selv om den nye Chevy har en del ligheder med den udg\u00e5ende bil, introducerede den et helt nyt designsprog.  <strong>Dette omfattede en nydesignet frontgrill med topmonterede scoops og unikt formede baglygter.<\/strong>  Faktisk er de flade bagfinner en af de mest ikoniske bilformer fra de tidlige 60&#8217;ere. Der var heller ingen \u00e6ndringer i transmissionsmulighederne i forhold til den udg\u00e5ende bil.  <\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Bel Airs sjette generation<\/h2><p>I 1965 blev den sjette generation af Chevys bestseller pr\u00e6senteret for offentligheden. Denne nye bil blev omdesignet fra bunden og fik mere aggressive og skarpe karrosserilinjer. Der var mulighed for at v\u00e6lge mellem tre- og firetrins manuelle gearkasser og et par automatiske gearkasser. Generelt havde disse biler en god ydeevne og en mere end acceptabel br\u00e6ndstof\u00f8konomi for den tid.  <\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Den sidste Bel Air-generation i USA<\/h2><p>Da den syvende generation af Bel Air blev introduceret i 1970, var salget af store sedaner i frit fald.  <strong>For at kompensere for dette fokuserede Chevrolet p\u00e5 fl\u00e5dekunder som det prim\u00e6re marked for deres nye bil.<\/strong>  Dens form\u00e5l var at v\u00e6re et mere prisvenligt alternativ til Caprice og Impala, som den delte det overordnede design med. Dette omfattede bl.a. skarpe kanter og en kasseformet kropsform. Ligesom sin forg\u00e6nger kunne den nye Bel Air f\u00e5s som sedan eller stationcar med op til ni pladser.<\/p><p>Alle tilg\u00e6ngelige motor- og transmissionsvarianter blev overf\u00f8rt fra de udg\u00e5ende modeller, dog i et reduceret udvalg.  <strong>P\u00e5 sin tid var Bel Air den sidste amerikanske bil i fuld st\u00f8rrelse, der havde en manuel gearkasse.<\/strong>  Andre opdateringer under huden omfattede bl.a. m\u00e5lere, der viste det \u00f8jeblikkelige br\u00e6ndstofforbrug, og kofangere, der var modstandsdygtige over for st\u00f8d ved lave hastigheder.  <\/p><p>Og mens Caprice trivedes godt p\u00e5 fl\u00e5demarkedet som typisk politi- eller taxak\u00f8ret\u00f8j, gik det ikke s\u00e5 godt for Bel Air. Som f\u00f8lge heraf besluttede Chevrolet at aflive den i 1970 og fokusere p\u00e5 de mere eksklusive og mere s\u00e6lgende s\u00f8skende. Alligevel var Bel Air tilg\u00e6ngelig i Canada som en ottende generation i endnu et par \u00e5r.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Chevrolet Bel Air som en samlerbil<\/h2><p>Chevrolet Bel Air er et ikon fra sin tid og er meget popul\u00e6r blandt bilentusiaster og samlere.  <strong>Der er dog stadig forskelle mellem \u00e5rgangene, da ikke alle modellerne er meget efterspurgte.<\/strong>  F.eks. er og vil det sandsynligvis altid v\u00e6re \u00f8nskeligt at k\u00f8be biler af anden generation. P\u00e5 den anden side er de senere modeller popul\u00e6re som bycruisere og bliver ofte ombygget til low-riders. Men for de fleste eksperter er biler af tredje generation toppen af Bel Air-serien, og derfor er de ogs\u00e5 de dyreste. Afh\u00e6ngigt af deres tilstand kan disse biler s\u00e6lges for mellem 20.000 og 150.000 dollars.<\/p><p> <\/p><h2>Chevrolet Bel Air &#8211; kort fortalt<\/h2><p>Bel Air var en af Chevrolets mest popul\u00e6re biler og blev produceret mellem 1950 og 1981.  <strong>I l\u00f8bet af denne periode blev bilen fornyet flere gange, hvilket resulterede i otte forskellige generationer.
